Air Force Research Laboratory Scholars Programs

Space Scholars
The Space Scholars Program invites four-year college graduates through PhD-level students in the areas of science and engineering to participate in a unique summer program that may lead to graduate fellowships and full-time employment. These opportunities exist in the Air Force Research Laboratory's (AFRLSpace Vehicles Directorate, which has facilities at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico and the National Solar Observatory in Sunspot, New Mexico.


Directed Energy Scholars
The Directed Energy Scholars Program invites four-year college graduates through PhD-level students in the areas of science and engineering to participate in a unique summer program that may lead to graduate fellowships and full-time employment. These opportunities exist in the Air Force Research Laboratory's (AFRLDirected Energy Directorate, which has facilities atKirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and the Air Force Maui Optical and Supercomputing Site, Maui, Hawaii.


Phillips Scholars
The Phillips Scholars Program offers upper-level high school and undergraduate students the experience of a lifetime! Phillips scholars gain hands-on experience while working with Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) scientists and engineers on cutting-edge research and technology. They will receive invaluable personal and professional experience while contributing to the future vision of space exploration and energy systems. Phillips Scholars positions may lead to part-time student employment. These opportunities exist in the AFRL’s Directed Energy and Space Vehicles Directorates, headquartered at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, N.M.
